Concrete planning guide

A garage apron repair must meet two different surfaces

The apron between a garage and a driveway includes a transition, not just a strip of damaged concrete. Door clearance, runoff and the adjoining paving all belong in the review.

What to record

  • Show the closed door, apron edge and driveway in one view.
  • Note where water collects and whether the adjoining pavement has moved.
  • Include prior repairs and any seasonal change in the door seal contact.

The decision to discuss

Ask how the repair will meet the existing driveway without creating a new raised edge. Changing the apron elevation can affect both the garage and outside drainage. The proposal should identify these relationships before the finish is selected.

Why the surrounding context matters

Joints can serve different purposes in a concrete assembly. The work should identify the actual junction and how the retained surfaces relate to it. A filled line and a functioning joint are different observations; ask for the intended detail before approving the finish.
