Concrete planning guide

A patch near a floor drain needs an elevation check

The drain is part of the repair context. A smooth patch around it can still leave water collecting elsewhere if the surrounding relationships are not reviewed.

What to record

  • Provide views of the drain, surrounding floor and where water normally travels.
  • Note whether a grate is fixed or removable.
  • Describe cleaning history and any backup separately from the surface deterioration.

The decision to discuss

Ask how elevations and drainage will be checked, and whether plumbing work is excluded. A photograph of a finished surface does not establish drainage performance. Any observed result should be documented under actual conditions.

Why the surrounding context matters

The finish discussion should follow the intended use and the condition of the material it covers. Appearance, transitions and care are useful owner decisions. A sample or photograph cannot establish hidden support, bond or long-term performance on its own.
