Concrete planning guide

A wet-weather photo record for exterior concrete

A dry driveway picture may hide the route water takes toward a garage. Observations during ordinary rain can help show the drainage question a repair must address.

What to record

  • Photograph safely from shelter and include the uphill surface, puddle and outlet in a wide view.
  • Note when the rain ended and when the puddle disappeared.
  • Never enter fast water or expose yourself to lightning for a photograph.

The decision to discuss

A new surface treatment and a change to water routing are different scopes. Ask which is being proposed and whether the receiving area can accept the runoff. A photograph alone does not establish a correct finished slope.

Why the surrounding context matters

Exterior concrete can be exposed to water and freezing conditions. Surface loss needs review alongside that exposure, but appearance alone does not establish its cause. Keep the physical condition, water observations and proposed maintenance changes separately recorded.
