Concrete planning guide

Can one damaged concrete panel be repaired separately?

A local approach may be possible, but the neighboring panels and transitions determine whether it fits the site. The decision requires more than an area measurement.

What to record

  • Show the whole panel, joints and adjoining surfaces.
  • Describe traffic across the boundary and any movement or water history.
  • Include nearby doors, drains and fixed features that constrain the work.

The decision to discuss

Ask what establishes the suitability of the retained concrete and how the repaired area will meet it. A local scope should be justified by the actual condition. Its appearance may differ from weathered concrete beside it.

Why the surrounding context matters

Joints can serve different purposes in a concrete assembly. The work should identify the actual junction and how the retained surfaces relate to it. A filled line and a functioning joint are different observations; ask for the intended detail before approving the finish.
