Questions for a concrete coating moisture evaluation

A dry-looking slab is not a moisture test. Before choosing a coating, clarify the manufacturer's moisture requirements and how the proposed evaluation will address them.

What to record

  • Share the slab's age, known vapor-retarder information and any earlier coating failure.
  • Identify whether the space is conditioned during normal use.
  • Keep test locations and reported results with the proposal.

The decision to discuss

Ask which test method and acceptance criteria apply to the selected system. A single observation or generic number should not replace the actual manufacturer's requirements. Separate testing, concrete repair and coating work in the scope.

Why the surrounding context matters

Moisture requirements depend on the selected flooring or surface system. Keep reported test methods, locations and results with the proposal. A dry-looking photograph and a documented evaluation answer different questions; neither should be described as the other.
