Concrete planning guide

Read concrete repair boundaries on a sketch

Repair proposals are easier to compare when the boundary of the work is explicit. A patch, one panel and an entire walkway can have very different consequences for the surrounding property.

What to record

  • Mark the intended limit, adjacent joints, drains, landscaping and door clearance.
  • Identify features that must remain usable while work is underway.
  • Include a wide photograph that shows the whole proposed work area.

The decision to discuss

Ask whether the boundary is provisional until loose material is removed. Record how hidden deterioration would be discussed before additional work proceeds. Keep the visible finish transition distinct from the functional repair objective.

Why the surrounding context matters

Joints can serve different purposes in a concrete assembly. The work should identify the actual junction and how the retained surfaces relate to it. A filled line and a functioning joint are different observations; ask for the intended detail before approving the finish.
