Concrete planning guide

Schedule concrete work around another building trade

Concrete work can depend on a drain, threshold, door or utility installation being ready. An explicit sequence reduces the chance that finished concrete must be reopened.

What to record

  • List the trades, the work each must finish and the dimensions or records each must provide.
  • Identify which conditions will be hidden when concrete is placed.
  • Keep provisional layout information labeled until it is confirmed.

The decision to discuss

Ask who coordinates readiness and approves the final boundary. Protect the agreed access route and finished surfaces during every stage. A schedule should be based on completed prerequisites rather than an assumed handover date.

Why the surrounding context matters

Joints can serve different purposes in a concrete assembly. The work should identify the actual junction and how the retained surfaces relate to it. A filled line and a functioning joint are different observations; ask for the intended detail before approving the finish.
