Track changes at a concrete door threshold

A threshold involves the door, seal and adjacent surfaces. The most useful maintenance record shows how that relationship changes, rather than only a close-up of the concrete.

What to record

  • Photograph the door closed and open from safe positions.
  • Note where the seal contacts the slab, where water appears and whether normal operation has changed.
  • Do not force a door against an obstruction or alter hardware to test a theory.

The decision to discuss

Ask whether the issue belongs to concrete, door adjustment, drainage or several scopes together. A concrete treatment should identify its intended elevation and boundary. Keep a repaired surface distinct from a promise about the entire door system.

Why the surrounding context matters

Joints can serve different purposes in a concrete assembly. The work should identify the actual junction and how the retained surfaces relate to it. A filled line and a functioning joint are different observations; ask for the intended detail before approving the finish.
